Matt is closely involved in the development and implementation of a digital asset management system designed to ease accessibility, awareness, and management of the center’s assets for center faculty, staff, and facilitators.

Matt completed his dual-Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering and Design Science in Winter 2020, and his Bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering in Winter 2018, all from the University of Michigan. Matt has worked with the Center for Socially Engaged Design since Fall 2017, starting as a program assistant, aiding in general center functions and program outreach; in Fall 2019 he moved to a graduate facilitator role, contributing more to workshop content development and delivery. Outside of C-SED, Matt has worked on design projects ranging in topic from medical device design, elementary school learning environments, information technology, and user-interface design.

Matt hopes to share and embed the socially engaged design process in his future positions by putting people first to develop sustainable design solutions. He strives to foster an inclusive environment through his work and inspire everyone to think like a designer.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending his time outdoors participating in activities such as fly fishing, camping, and hiking. During COVID-19 he has enjoyed travelling to near and familiar places, and hopes to start travelling again when it is safe and comfortable to do so.
