Christie began the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program at Michigan State University in Fall 2018.  She was the Assistant Director of Program Development at the Center for Socially Engaged Design. Prior to joining the Center for Socially Engaged Design team, Christie was the Program Officer for PartnersCampus Student Chapters with Partners of the Americas in Washington, DC and, most recently, Co-Curricular Education Abroad Coordinator with International Programs in Engineering at the University of Michigan.  With IPE, Christie worked closely with student organizations engaging in international projects and she supported students seeking work, internships, and volunteer opportunities abroad.

A University of Michigan College of Engineering graduate herself, Christie earned her BSE in Biomedical Engineering in 2010.  Inspired by the global community she entered through her student leadership and international experiences with the student organization, Sa Nima Collaborative (in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic), she embarked on a career in education abroad.  In December 2012, Christie earned a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan with a focus on community organizing, completing her field placement as an intern with Cross Cultural Solutions in Cape Town, South Africa.  She also studied Q’eqchi’ in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala with a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowship.
