Josh is the Principal Researcher with MForesight, a Federal Advanced Manufacturing Think Tank based at the University of Michigan. He obtained his M.S.E and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
His research background includes work soft robots, compliant mechanisms, elastomers, manufacturing, and design. He has worked on applying this technology to sectors including orthotics, mobile robotics, industrial automation, and automotive. He has instructed multiple courses in mechanical design and manufacturing. He has gained technology commercialization and assessment experience working in the University of Michigan Office of Technology Transfer. He has also worked as a Research Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Consultant at startups and small engineering companies.
