Ally Sierra (she/her) is an equity-centered designer and a second-year Master’s student at the University of Michigan, pursuing an MS in Information Science with a concentration in User Experience Design and Research. She is also pursuing a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Certificate from U-M’s Rackham Graduate School. Ally’s design philosophy is rooted in the idea of making the world a less complicated, a more accessible, and a much more welcoming place. Prior to starting her Master’s program, Ally received a BA in Communication and Media from the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts in 2020.
Ally’s personal interest in writing and media combined with her years of retail experience led her to socially engaged design. She has held internships in the fields of journalism, social media coordination, and marketing/outreach. In the summer of 2021, Ally interned with C-SED as a Design Researcher, developing a deeper love and understanding for human-centered design. Now, Ally works with C-SED on a variety of projects, including outreach and engagement, social media management, and more.
