Joie is a designer, connector, and avid learner. She is constantly in the process of unlayering,
unlearning, and rethinking. Most recently, Joie’s experiences of working in the architecture field
while volunteering with an environmental conservation organization in Madison, WI led to her
interest in exploring how designers and communities can build relationships that serve as
grounds for social action.Today, she is most interested in how to learn from local communities,
challenge existing narratives, and introduce new lines of inquiry to address housing scarcity,
generational wealth, and environmental justice.
Currently, Joie is a MDes in Integrative Design student at University of Michigan’s Penny W.
