Sara Hoffman, PhD

Assistant Director of Educational Content and Research Integration

Sara Hoffman is the Assistant Director of Educational Content and Research Integration. She leads the development of SEED case studies and workshops that explore the intersection of technical and social aspects of engineering. Sara partners with faculty to co-design cases across engineering disciplines, oversees the research and writing process for new content, and supports C-SED’s graduate facilitators in implementing these materials in undergraduate courses.

Prior to this role, she collaborated on the development of learning blocks for C-SED’s Socially Engaged Design Academy and served as a Lecturer in LSA’s Applied Liberal Arts Division. Her teaching at the University of Michigan has spanned courses on student success, community engagement, and microhistory. Sara holds an MA and a PhD in History from Penn State University and a BA in Ancient Languages from Wheaton College.
