Betsy is a Graduate Facilitator for workshops focused on socially engaged engineering design. She is currently pursuing a PhD in the Engineering Education Research program studying methods of improving ethics education in undergraduate engineering courses. Betsy also researches the experiences of financially disadvantaged students and what supports they utilize to thrive in engineering.
Betsy attended the University of Michigan as an undergraduate, earning a degree in Biomedical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. After graduating, she worked as a high school math and engineering teacher in New Mexico for several years before deciding to return to graduate school. Betsy now combines her technical and professional expertise to investigate how to improve accessibility and equity within the field of engineering.
